The holiday season is finally over...

I'll be meeting with my sister at my brother's for a belated Christmas gathering. We'll be watching movies and exchanging gifts. Unfortunately, Mom is working the whole week, so we're not celebrating the holidays with her. She'll be taking the whole week off next week, in preparation for my coming birthday... I know, don't get me started on it...

I spent Christmas day with my sister and watched a couple of movies... Lakeview Terrace was a good movie. Sam Jackson was great in it, although, I thought his character was just being your typical Sam Jackson character. The other movie we saw was Slumdog Millionaire. I gotta say, it was an impressive movie. My question is would you consider it a foreign movie because of its cast? Its possible to get a few nominations for the Oscars.. Danny Boyle did a good job in directing the movie. The cut scenes were the type I was considering for my screenplay... I guess, I need to get Danny to direct my movie...

I was supposed to go to my sister's today and watch a few movies plus the fight last week. I, instead, just slept the day away. The weather was ripe for some sleep. I truly love this kind of weather. I don't like the snow, but 40s is fine by me.

Anyway, I didn't sleep all day. I saw a couple of movies. I saw The Day the Earth stood still and Gran Torino today. TDTESS wasn't the kind of movie I was expecting. I thought it was gonna be like The Day After Tomorrow. But it wasn't. I didn't see the original, so I really have no basis for comparison. But I was expecting a lot more action out of it, but instead all I got was a message that people should change because Earth is dying. Oh well...

Gran Torino was a good movie. I can't think of any other actor that could play the role of Walt better than him. After watching the movie, I was surprised that it wasn't nominated for a Golden Globe. I think it was nominated for Original Song, which was strangely haunting to hear. It was played towards the end of the movie. Clint's raspy voice in the less than 2 minute version of the song was haunting, then Jamie Cullum's version filled the audio of the End Credits. The movie was good and should be well nominated in the Oscar's. Then again, I have still see the other movies that are being considered like Milk, Benjamin Buttons, Revolutionary Road, The Reader and Frost/Nixon.

I'll get to see Frost/Nixon and possibly Milk before the week ends...

Aside from the weather, I like this season.. it brings the best out in movies... my passion...

Finally... after almost a month of nothing... I'm back!!!

Believe me, this whole blogging thing is not a chore to me. I normally post after work, but then I get into a routine and all hell breaks lose and I forget to post.
Hopefully, that phase will end, and this will mark a new era of my blogging phase...

The Dark Knight comes out on Blu-Ray today. Maybe thats why I'm blogging today. I'm sure I'll be getting it, have to do it after work though. Don't want to get it and just let it sit in the car all day. That has to be one of the best movies I've seen, ever. Not because one of its stars died before the movie came out. The whole viewing experience was great. I still wanted to see the movie on IMAX.

Not much happening right now, I'll update this later...

I promise...

This blog is getting to be a monthly thing now, instead of the daily blog I was planning before. Its not that I don't want to do it, finding the time is i guess half the battle.

Although its a week a late, I think its nice to mention that we had a horror movie marathon last Halloween. It really didn't turn out well. We ended up not only watching horror movies, but we were able to squeeze in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. That's ok, it was an entertaining movie. It was a good day though. Getting together with my brother and sister is always good. We plan on doing it again, probably next week. My brother wanted to do a Christmas theme, but I told them there weren't that many good Christmas movies. So we might just watch a few movies from my collection.

Not too much to update. Its been constant at work. I need to do something that would challenge me. Its getting to be real stale at work now. Its almost unfair. Its like they're paying me to surf the internet and occasionally answer the phone.

I need to find something else...

Monday, October 20, 2008

My goodness.. its been almost a month since my last blog... I'd like to say that I'm gonna change that, but I don't believe in promises that I may not keep, for some strange reason. So, here I am, hopefully to destroy the cycle of not blogging...

What's keeping me busy? I have these 2 new games that are awesome and makes me want to play them everytime. I'm playing FIFA 09 and NBA 2K9. The graphics look extremely realistic and the gameplay is far better than last year's edition. I just end up playing a few games and the next thing you know, its been a few hours already.

I'm excited that I was able to get Final Draft 7 for my Mac! Now, I have to transfer my scripts to my Mac. Unfortunately, the scripts I have are in a different format. I want to print them out, but that would be a ton of pages. So my plan is to re-type all the scripts I have into FD and use the other program as copy. Make any sense? I may be describing it wrong. At any rate, I'm excited with this new program. I was planning on just using my Mac as a writing tool, but it turned out to be my Media Mac.

Last Saturday was a great day for fights. UFC 89 was shown on PPV as well as the Pavlik-Hopkins showdown. I was able to see them both. I'd have to say that Hopkins proved himself that night. He sure beat the crap out of Pavlik. Good thing for Pavlik that the belts weren't on the line. The UFC event was good, technically. Most of the matches went the distance, not much submissions nor KOs. I was surprised that Brandon Vera lost to Jardine. I thought Vera got the win, albeit, close.

I'm still trekking along here.. surviving... we'll see how that last..

Today was a first for me. I called 911. No, nothing happened to me. There was an accident on my way to work. It was a bad accident involving a truck and a motorcycle. It was still fresh because the person on the motorcycle was still on the ground while the truck remained stationary behind the motorcycle. I didn't see how badly hurt the person was because he wasn't facing my direction, but the fact that he was still on the ground prompted me to call 911. Sure enough, I was transfered to CHP which gets all the 911 calls from a cellphone. I reported it as an 11-79. Thank God, people already called them about it.

If it were a non-emergency call going to CHP, I would've been on-hold for a long time. But events like this, its a primary call.

I honestly miss being at the PD. Calls like this drive me. They make my brain move. It felt like everything else I did at work was too miniscule.

Like I said, a first for me....

Hello again.. old friend...

Its been a while since my last post. Felt like I've forsaken this whole writing thing altogether. That is not true. I was just pre-occupied with the social networking scene, that I've neglected to update my blog. Hopefully, like many promises I've made in the past, that would end.

Anyway, Mariano Rivera threw the last pitch and Benjie Molina hit the last homerun at Yankee Stadium. My beloved Yankees have played the final game at the House that Ruth built. It was a very touching scene before the ballgame earlier when the Yankees honored past and present players. The stadium played a video that chronicled the history of Yankee stadium when it first opened in the 1930's.

I have a few favorite Yankee moments at Yankee stadium. Scott Brosius hitting the tying homerun in the World Series. Derek Jeter becoming Mr. November, hitting a monumental homerun at a few minutes past midnight in the World Series against the Diamondbacks. Finally, who could forget Aaron Boone's walk-off homerun? Classic.

A great day for sports today. The United States brought back the Ryder Cup. Actually, they played at Valhalla, so it was home court advantage. But still, the Euro team was tough. US won on Jim Furyk's putt. Nice.

I took a test yesterday for a position at the City. Goodness, the test was harder than the test I had for PSCS. There were a lot of us who took the test. I'd be pleasantly surprised if I made the cut. Well, I'm being honest.

Like I said earlier, I'm not neglecting this blog of mine. It has been a part of my life. A chronicle of what's happened in my life, if you will...

More updates next week

Its been a while since my last post. I know, you're used to it already, but I have a good excuse: my internet service provider, in all their glory, accidentally disconnected my service and I was offline for almost 2 weeks because of this snafu.

But now, I'm back!!

Just watched UFC 88. I couldn't believe that KO of Chuck by Rashad Evans. My boy Rashad deserves some mad props! He sure as heck clocked Liddell real bad. Chuck was out for a good 4 minutes. It wasn't like the Rampage KO where Chuck still wanted to fight after being KO'd. This time, he was out cold! If I were at Vegas at that time, I would've bet on Evans. Too bad I wasn't there.

I'll be keeping you posted in the following days... I'm just trying to tag some pictures on facebook.

Its been a strange week. Work-wise, its been a mixed bag. Its been busy and and its been easy. I guess you can say its been constant. No surprises.

Just the way I like it.

I have no idea why I did it or who told me to do it, but I joined the world of facebook. Why facebook and not myspace? I guess you could say that the latter is just way too congested. I'n not that into pictures although I like taking them and I rarely am in them. I am always on it though. There's nothing better than a friend contacting you and touching bases with you.

Thats cool....

Well its final... Michael Phelps became the most prolific Olympian in history, winning 8 gold medals. I really hate the coverage on TV. Its delayed and making a mockery out of us by saying that its "LIVE". I had to record the last 2 hours of the coverage during the last week so I can watch it the next day.

Well, I guess NBC was betting on the West Coast still watching their delayed coverage even at the wee hours of the night just because Michael Phelps is swimming that day. I guess they were right, we would still watch it. At that final race, you knew that the Men's relay team would kick ass. I really feel for Dara Torres. Too bad she didn't win the gold. I know silver isn't that bad considering its the Olympics, but I really doubt it if she'd be able to go to London for the 2012 Games.. but you never know.

There's going to be a lot debate whether Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all time... A lot of athletes come to mind... but I really can't say that they could do the same thing that Phelps did. It was a Herculean task that he was able to accomplish by himself and with his fellow Olympians. I guess it still hasn't dawned on him on what he's accomplished. I'm sure he'll get it after all the press conferences and requests for interviews he'll do in the next couple of weeks.

Now that the swimming events are over, there's nothing good anymore to follow. Possibly the Redeem team but other than that, there's nothing worth recording...

Sunday, August 10, 2008

The Olympics are on full force right now. I had really high hopes for the swimming team, with Michael Phelps leading the way. He hasn't disappointed, winning his 2nd gold in as many days of competition. There are 2 things that are disappointing so far about the Olympics, as far as I'm concerned. First, the women's swimming team did not step up to the promise during the trials. It kinda felt like they were overwhelmed by being there. Second, the Olympics coverage. Going into the Opening Ceremonies, I already knew that it was going to be a taped delay, but seriously... Telecasting Michael Phelps' first gold medal swim and stating there that its LIVE on TV, wherein fact, he swam 3 hours ago is just wrong. Does NBC really think that the viewers are that stupid? We know about the time difference! The Olympic website might have posted the results already and you're still sending your West Coast feed of the games "live". That's just stupid. I just get my results from this application on my phone. At least there, the results are live. I'm sure NBC will show replays of the different highlights of the previous day tomorrow when I wake up.

Michael Phelps is still the star of this Olympics. Winning his 2nd gold together with his relay partners. Even if the Redeem team wins gold, he would still be the biggest story of this year's games. So far, every final that he's competed in, he's broken the World Record. That's good.

Anyway, The Dark Knight still reigns supreme in the Box Office this week. I was surprised with this news because Pineapple express beat DK last Wednesday, the first day of Pineapple express. But with the Dark Knight's win this week, it moved to #3 in the All Time box office receipts. Its $20 million short of Star Wars' 2nd spot on the All Time list. I really think that its still possible for DK to kick Titanic's butt, but it feels like DK is losing steam.

I don't know.. but that's just me...

Wednesday, August 06, 2008

Well, today was the big day... Today was my US naturalization interview/test. The wait was longer than the interview. Apparently, they had an emergency meeting and a whole bunch of us were stuck in the lobby, waiting for them to show up. The person that interviewed me was a good guy. Not menacing or the like. Not a hardball kind of guy. He sounded nervous. Anyway, he went thru my application, asked me to sign my whole name, not the signature I always do, but a signature that would cover my whole name. Anyway, that took about a couple of minutes. Then he asked me a few questions on US history and civics. Piece of cake. After all that, he congratulated me, told me that I passed the English proficiency and US history. I should be getting a letter from them in 90 days on when I'll be taking my oath taking. It was cool. Just like that, I'm one step away from being a US citizen. I believe the oath taking is just a formality now.

My mom was stoked! My sister also passed. So you could say that its a banner day for the family right now. All thats left is my brother. He needs to get his paperwork in order, but he should be able to pass.

Anyway, life goes on... right?

Yesterday was the 2nd phase of my FD experience. It was a different kind of test where it gives you a hands-on approach to testing. I approached it like I would approach it in a PD setting. I shouldn't have done that. After probably an hour after the test, I received an email from them saying that I won't be going to the next phase. Thus ending my dream of going back to PAC. I guess I'll call it a day as far as being with the PD. Shouldn't be the case but, what are you gonna do? In my world, that's a sign that I should heed. Its not for me. Its something else...

But what?

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

I was finally able to open an IRA account so I could roll-over my PERS from the City. If there was a year extension, I'd just leave it there because I might be able to come back by January. At any rate, my opening an IRA would officially cut all my ties with the City. That's sad. Hopefully, I can make a successful comeback by the end of the year.

Nothing much to report today. I'm waiting for an email from my friend. She was supposed to send me some pictures and music so I can assemble them into this little video. Apparently a relative passed away and they want to show a little picture video about him. I'm going to be working on a tight deadline. Hmm... let me see if she sent the files already... Nope. Not yet.. Its gonna be a trick to finish it with so little time given to me.

Short blog today, nothing special happening at work.

I should start practicing for my practical test on Saturday. I'l probably do that on Thursday. Then I have to study for my Citizenship test/interview on Wednesday. I'll probably study for that during the weekend. Wow! It's gonna be a hectic week for me, studying for two different tests. I like it though.

Have I ever told you that I love tests?

I finished the 2nd season of Criminal Minds. I truly love that show! It always keeps you guessing and the plot is never the same. As promised, I'll be doing my Movie-A-Day thing after this series, unfortunately, I won't be watching a movie tonight. I plan on sleeping early. I felt so restless this morning. It was hard to get up. It took me a while before I stood up from bed. Its probably because my body was tired from the exercise on the Wii. Crap! I forgot to play today. I'll make that up tomorrow.

I love my Wii...

Monday, July 28, 2008

I took the plunge and bought a Wii Fit today. I was thinking of not getting it but the thought of playing videogames and making myself "fit" took the better of me. I tried it and I was so impressed with it. The Wii is definitely a good platform that involves the player so much, it immerses you in the experience. I tried the aerobics part of the game, I jogged a short distance and now I'm feeling it in my thighs. Incredible machine. That is definitely a great buy.

Now, no more spending! I will make do with I have right now. I'm really satisfied with it. I'm even taking lessons from my sister. My brother was supposed to get his today, but he said he didn't get it yet. We'll see. Now I can't wait to jump on it again and try another exercise.

I'm trying to swear off sodas right now. The sugared drinks. Its hard because since I was a kid, I've been drinking them like water. Now, I'm trying to replace soft drinks with plain water. It does the trick and now I drink a lot. I guess thats good for someone right?

Sunday, July 27, 2008

I bought myself a WII last Thursday and started playing it. That sure is a fun console. That whole console is a going to be my training regimen. Hopefully it'll keep me fit.

Anyway, I saw the Cotto-Margarito fight and that sure was a great one. You would never know the outcome during the first 8 rounds, but Cotto sure got rocked in the 10th. Cotto just gave up the following round. It was either he was too tired to continue or the beating that he took from Margarito was too much and too fast. He took a knee the first knockdown then he just fell the second time without Margarito throwing a punch. In my opinion, if the fight went the distance, Cotto might have pulled off the decision because he was landing the crisper punches. But looking at Cotto's face, you knew that he lost the match. Margarito deserved the win.

My Movie-A-Day experiment is taking a short break. I've been watching Criminal Minds, 2nd season. Probably after that, I'll be continuing my movie-a-day regimen.

Last Friday at work was the busiest day as I was scheduling service one after the other. It sure kept me busy and my primary driver busy. He was complaining that whenever he was on-call, there were no calls. Now that there were calls, he's complaining about where all the calls are coming from. I don't know what the mindset is with the people I work with. They like the free time but complain that its slow, then on the other hand, if I give them calls, they either pass the call or just complain about too many calls. I just don't get it.

Well, hopefully, its gonna be another busy week....

Strange thing happened on my way to work...

I was driving down Middlefield road in Palo Alto going to work when I heard something hit my car! I thought a car hit me because I really felt the jolt, but it wasn't strong enough for me to swerve. When I looked at my mirror to see what hit me, I saw the dead body of a squirrel, writhing in pain on the road!

Can you believe that? Its either a squirrel just fell off a tree or it committed suicide by car.

On the bright side, there were no dents to the car, but poor squirrel...

Anyway, today was a busy day at work. That was surprising. Everybody was out on calls. There were some screwball calls but, all in all, it kept me busy, which was good. I am getting bored.

I got the email from FD that I passed the PHQ exam and made it to the 2nd phase of the process, which is the Criticall phase of the process. It was the typing exam. Thank God it falls on a Saturday. I don't want to miss another day at work. Too bad that I won't be able to see my friend at the PD though. I believe she comes in at 11:30 am that Saturday. Oh well, at least I passed another phase.

Here's to tomorrow....

Saturday, July 19, 2008

We just got home from watching The Dark Knight. That movie was AWESOME!! I'm not the type that gets suckered into believing all the hype about the movie... but it sure was good. A lot of people were talking about giving Heath Ledger an Oscar nod for his acting there... well, I don't know about that. Sure, he was very believable as the Joker in the movie, I'll tell ya, he was better than Jack Nicholson was when he played the Joker. But I don't think its an Oscar nod though. Sure its too early to be talking about Oscars since we got almost a whole year of movies to go through. Great movies come out during the holidays, so we can expect great acting to come up during that season.

Is it wrong to say that since people were talking about giving Heath an Oscar nomination, why not give Robert Downey jr. an Oscar for his role in Iron Man. He was great there and really believable as Tony Stark?

Anyway, the weekend is looking good so far. Lots of great food here at my brother's place. The Dark Knight was great! The guys are playing with the Wii right now. We're probably gonna take in a couple of movies later. The fun's not done yet.

Friday, July 18, 2008

Its been a slow week at work. The highlight of this week has to be my PHQ test for SJFD. Taking the test for the 2nd time is like a walk in the park. I believe the only difference this time was that I now have experience as a public safety dispatcher. I don't believe that would change anything though. I still have my resolve. I know I can do that job... I should just let it flow...

Anyway, tomorrow is a big sibling gathering. Potluck at my brother's place. Afterwards, we'll be watching The Dark Knight. We already have plans of leaving early so we could get great seats. That would be a tough nut to crack since we're speculating that the place would be sold out. The earlier, the better, is what I say. But an hour before showtime should be sufficient. Tomorrow will be a whole day affair. Watching movies before and after and eating a whole lot of food. I should be leaving his place, full and a few pounds heavier. I hate it, but what are you gonna do?

In the grand scheme of things... it starts and ends with family...

Sunday, July 13, 2008

One thing that was always constant on Saturdays was my doing my laundry and I always mail my movies in... I didn't forget the laundry part, but I forgot to mail my movies. Its a good thing I remembered today, but I hope its not too late. I always get my movies on Tuesday and the new ones too. But this is kinda late so I'm in uncharted waters here.

Anyway, weekends are always me watching my movies. I was supposed to watch the Ruins but its never too late for that. Instead I was watching most of my HD-DVD movies. It was almost a Keanu Reeves day today. It started out with Constantine, that was a good movie. I was supposed to watch the Matrix trilogy but I watched Unforgiven instead. That movie was LEGENDARY! No wonder it won Best Picture that year. Clint Eastwood is a terrific director. Spike Lee doesn't know what he's talking about...

The IPhone 3G came out last Friday. Lots of people bought it, of course, but there were some complaints. Just like the 1st generation IPhone, activating the phone took forever. It seems that Apple is underestimating the number of people that would want to activate the IPhone at the same time. Their servers got worked out the first 3 hours of the 3G launch. That was all on the East Coast. The West coast had the same problems but not as much. At any rate, Apple's IPhone 3G release is a success. I was almost tempted to get one, but I'm satisfied with the one I have. Probably next time....

Hell's Kitchen Season 4 is over. The battle between Petrozza and Christina is done. I guess the judges went with the younger chef. That's right. Christina won.

That's too bad. I wanted Petrozza to win this one.

This is the reason why I don't like living in the West Coast. It gets a delayed broadcast compared to those from the East, unless its a really big event like the Oscars or Grammys. I guess I'll just wait for my DVR to record this show and watch it later.

Anyway... Congratulations Christina...
I was supposed to start Movie-a-day 2 days ago, but I ended up sleeping instead. So I started it yesterday. Yesterday I saw "The Invisible". The movie was good, targeting the youth for a supernatural thriller. The soundtrack used was awesome, the kind of music I regularly listen to. Margarita looked cute even with the knit cap on. I didn't know she was on the Russian gymnastics team. I'll probably do another movie tonight.

Tonight is also the season finale for Hell's Kitchen. It's probably finished now in the East Coast. Let me check the wires...

Sunday, July 06, 2008

Weekend with my sister was a success. We enjoyed chicken wings and some movies. It was cool hanging out with her. What's missing was my brother which, for some strange reason, was incommunicado. We'll probably hang sometime during the month before the new X-Files movie comes out.

What I couldn't stand was the heat. On the night my sister slept over, I gave her the fan for the night. It was too hot and uncomfortable, I wasn't able to sleep. I really hate summer. there are no ways of cooling yourself in the heat, but you sure can warm up in the cold. I hate summer.

Anyway, I'm trying something different for this blog. What I'm going to try and do, is watch a movie a day. I don't know what I'll watch but that's the plan so far.

I was watching the Olympics trials over the weekend. The swimming trials were incredible. There were too many good swimmers that it was too bad that they were just sending the top 2. Lots of records were broken, world and american records.

I also got to watch UFC 86. There's a new Light-heavyweight champ, Forest Griffin. It was a match that was too close to call. Lots of pundits were already calling it the match of 2008! Funny, considering we're only halfway thru the year. At any rate, the match was that good! I have mixed feelings about the match, it could've gone either way in my book. I got to hand it to Rampage though, he is a great interview. Entertaining as always. He admits to getting his ass whupped! Rampage should ask for a rematch, but chances are that might not happen till next year. We'll see if Forest last that long as champ.

Anyway, I'll try and get some rest and watch that movie....

Thursday, July 03, 2008

My sister is visiting me today. We're gonna be watching a few movies and catching up as usual... Whenever she visits, we do takeout and do some serious catching up, usually staying up till the early hours of the next morning. I like it when she visits. I like it too when I visit my brother, which would be sometime next week.

I am going to enjoy this long weekend....

Oh by the way, FD responded thru email today. My app passed thru their rigorous check and I made it to the PHQ testing phase. Unfortunately, its not during the weekend. It'll be on July 15th, which I believe is a Tuesday... or is it a Wednesday.... Either way, I won't be making it to work. Have to go thru the whole process again.... I'll take it...

My friend and I got to talking and she was giving me updates on what's going on in the fourth floor. Apparently another batchmate of mine quit the 911 business. That's too bad... I really thought she had it in her to last a few years or so... I was really surprised with that one. My friend also mentioned that only one FD calltaker remains out of their last academy. Their academy had 4 people in it! What a mortality rate huh? Tells you how much stress and involvement this job entails.

I've said this before and I'll say it again... I know I could do this job, I believe that I could do it....

Sunday, June 29, 2008

So its looking like this is gonna be a twice-a-week kind of blogging event for me... I'll try and change that in the future to a daily routine but for now, I'm sticking to this schedule...

Yesterday was my boy Pac-man's fight. He demolished the WBC champ, David Diaz. I thought it was going to be a tough fight but Manny proved me wrong. He just ran rings around the ex-champ. That's right, Manny's the new lightweight champ! No surprise there. The fight looked eerily similar to the Mayweather-Gatti fight. Mayweather proved everybody wrong that time when everybody said he couldn't take the power at the junior welterweight weight class. He demolished Gatti. I thing Floyd was the reason Gatti retired. Anyway, Diaz never had a chance. "I can take his punches, he's just too fast" were what Diaz said to his trainer. I'll tell you what, Manny looked slow in that fight too. During the later rounds, he was getting slow, its either he was getting tired for throwing all those punches or he's just emulating his opponent. Anyway, I gotta hand it to David Diaz though, he wasn't gonna give up. If he wasn't the champ, the fight would've been stopped earlier. If it weren't for that knockout on the 9th round, the fight probably would've gone to the 12th. Diaz fought bravely and took all punches, he offered no excuses during the post-fight interview. Diaz was throwing f-bombs during that interview with Jim Lampley though. You kiss your mother with that mouth, boy?

Euro 2008 is finally over and they crowned a new champ. Spain won over Germany in what I thought was a very good match, especially in the 2nd half. They weren't holding any punches. They were going at it. El Nino, Fernando Torres scored on a fantastic score midway in the 1st half for the Spaniards and they never looked back. Great defense and outstanding play. That championship game capped off a great and exciting tournament. Euro 2008 would be remembered as a tournament of upsets and come from behind victories. Turkey was the darling of the tournament. You never know what to expect with Turkey especially with 5 minutes left in regulation and Turkey's down a goal. They were simply fantastic. Russia also became a team to watch out for. But of course, Spain is the talk of the town. They beat the June 22 curse and finally won another European championship, the last being in 1964. Viva Espana!!

Just a few more days till I find out if I'm getting tested for the SJFD PSCS position. I hope so... I always have a positive outlook to things and this is no different. I feel that I'll be notified to be tested. I know I'll be going thru the whole process I've gone thru when I went for the PSCS position for the PD. I don't feel any negative vibes about this. No second thoughts or any aberrations to the contrary. I feel that I'll be seeing my old friends at PD once again. I can see myself walking through the 4th floor of PAB once again but this time thru a different room. That's cool, I get to visit my friends next door on my break time. I don't feel cocky... confident is a much better term

Working in the towing industry sure has its ups and downs. There would be days where there would rarely be a call for service. Then there would be days where you're scrambling for a driver to cover for a PD call. This week has been a mix so far. Its been busy but its mostly a lot of downtime for me. I hate that. I want that non-stop action, lots of calls for service and all the rest. I can't have all that of course. That would come in time.

Euro 2008 is coming to an end on Sunday. Germany has booked the first finals seat. They beat a very determined Turkey squad that once again almost beat the favored team. Almost another come from behind win. They beat the Czech Republic then Croatia and almost Germany, but that didn't happen. They were the Cinderella team in this year's Euro's. I guess you can say that the glass slipper fell from Turkey's hold. Tomorrow is the game I'm waiting for. Spain against Russia. These squads have faced off already during the knockout stage and Spain won 4-1. But of course, this is the Semis and Russia's defense sure changed for the better. They're gonna face THE best striking duo in David Villa and Fernando Torres. Of course, Spain needs to stop the playmaking ability of Arshavin so that they could have a fighting chance. That Arshavin guy is a genius at such a young age. I'll be tuning in to see if Spain goes through. If they do, its gonna be a great Finals on Sunday!

Just 3 more episodes and I'll finish "How I met your mother". I saw seasons 1 and 2 and i should say that its one of my favorite sitcoms now. I'll be able to finish that tonight.

I haven't talked to my Mom for the longest time and she surprised me today with a phone call. That's nice.

I tried convincing my sister to come over to my place and watch a few movies. She had some plans during the weekend so we settled on next Thursday. Lots of movies to watch, I told her.

I think I'll catch up some sleep during the next few days. I've been nodding off during work, its crazy. Its either my body's telling me I'm tired or I'm just really bored... I hope its the former, because I've been bored before but I never nodded off then...

We'll see...

My goodness... has it been that long since I lost blogged? I'd like to say that it wouldn't happen again, but I really, honestly, doubt it. Its not that I don't have time for it, its just that if my laptop was at close proximity, the chances of me blogging would be waaaay up there...

Anyway, last Tuesday, I decided to buy an external 1TB HD. I was planning on putting all my files there. I have 3 externals. The first and oldest one would be my primary backup HD. The 2nd external HD would carry all my music. Then the big HD would carry all the rest of my files. But something funny happened when I was starting to backup files... The 1TB HD, after transferring almost 250 GB worth of data, suddenly failed. It just wouldn't load or nothing. My laptop couldn't even recognize the HD. It just crashed taking with it, my newer files. Nice. I had to return it to Best Buy and thankfully enough, they didn't ask too many questions. They jsut did the return and gave me a credit back.

I still lost all that data though. Those videos and I believe there were some music too. I lost all of them. I'm not getting a Maxtor anymore. I won't get burned twice.

Today was day 3 of Euro 2008, the quarterfinal stage. Germany is in, beating Portugal. Turkey is in, after another come from behind win against Croatia. Some would say this is the upset of Euro 2008... until today. Russia defeated the Netherlands 3-1, today in extra time. That game was so great, Russia just neutralized the scoring power of the Dutch. I was surprised that Van Basten didn't use Robben or Van Persie during the start of the game. They weren't attacking that much and just settling for ball control. I don't like that kind of game.

More from the Euros, the Portugal federation blamed Chelsea FC for disrupting the Portuguese team by announcing Scolari as Chelsea's new manager. The Portuguese officials said that this just destroyed the concentration of the team. I beg to differ. Scolari wasn't on the pitch playing the ball. How come nobody mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo's media ploy of trying to get out of Manchester United and going to the Bernabeu. Ronaldo's play wasn't in question even though his performance wasn't vintage Ronaldo. He's better suited to play in Manchester United. All the pieces fit to his style. I like Scolari's mind games though with Ronaldo. Scolari told Ronaldo to take the opportunity with Real Madrid and leave Manchester United. I'd probably do the same thing too if I was coaching Chelsea, I'd tell the best player in the world to leave the League that I'll be coaching in, so that I'd be having an easier time coaching. But hey, that's me...

I recently saw Kung Fu Panda. I thought it was very entertaining and for an animation, had lots of action sequences.

Today is day 2 of the heat wave that the Bay Area is in. It sure is hot and at times can be really uncomfortable, but its nothing a cool bath can't fix. Figures that the first day of summer would start on the first day of the heat wave. I just hate the heat. I like the cold. You can just put layers to keep yourself warm. But what do you do when its hot?

I'm viewing The Signal right now... Its more of a B movie about a TV and phone signal that makes people kill each other. It has potential to be a good movie... we'll see how it goes...

Today was a very frustrating day for me. People don't seem to listen to me and just take me for granted. Which is why I do plan on leaving, hopefully, get back with the City. That's too bad... I kinda liked working there but, oh well... right?

I told myself that I'll be catching up with my Spanish lessons this weekend. I'll see if I'll follow up with that promise. My favorite game of all time just released the final installment last Tuesday. I'll be playing MGS4 sometime during the weekend. Plus I'll be catching up on some movies I have. I guess its gonna be a busy weekend at home for me. I'll try to catch up with some sleep too.

That's a lot on my plate right now...

I have to admit that today was one of the busiest day at work... ever. Call after call for service, from PD calls to regular lockout calls, we got the ball rolling and it just rolled over my shoulders. Easy Peazy. It was the kind of day I was expecting but never really got to experience. Now that that's over, piece of cake.

The Lakers finally won a game!!! The Celtics still lead the series 2-1. It was close. Lakers need participation from Gasol and a little more from Odom. Lamar seems to be trying too hard to contribute. He should let it just flow, let his actions come into fruition.

I read somewhere that I need to drain my Mac of its battery to get a good circulation or life cycle for the battery. It sure takes a while before the battery dies. I love my Mac.

Talking about Apple products, the WWDC was finally over. The big presentation was all about the IPhone 3G. Even with the new design, slimmer phone and faster internet connection, I still wouldn't buy one. I'm very satisfied with the IPhone I have. I still haven't utilized the most out of this device. I'm used to it already though.

Over the weekend I'm planning on brushing up my Spanish. Its hard to study that though. For one thing, there's Spain Spanish and Central America Spanish. I believe the only difference is the i and e before c where you pronounce it as a th. There's also the slang that's involved, especially with Mexico's Spanish. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to do it over the weekend....

Till next time

Monday, June 09, 2008

Its another Monday. Its been a good day today at work. We've been getting calls, both PD and your regular call. At least they're calls for service. Keeps me busy, as well as the drivers.

Before I forget to mention, SJFD's looking for calltakers. I feel I'm ready to get back into the action. I feel bored in my current job. Plus, the money's better working for the city. I encouraged my friend to join me in taking the test at the end July. He better put in an application.

Anyway, I'm watching some wrestling today and Vinnie Mac is giving away money. He's just cold-calling people who registered over the website and handing out as much as $250,000. He did give away $2 to some poor lady. That was a tease. It got me thinking, if you get Raw, tape-delayed, then you wouldn't know what the password was for Vince's question. Not only that, but chances are, when he calls, it'll show up as a blocked or unknown # on someone's phone. Sure, he's calling from Oakland but still...

Euro 2008 has started and so far the teams expected to win have won. Today was the day for the Group of Death. 4 teams that are good enough to win it all but only 2 get to go to the next round. I was very surprised that World Cup winners, Italy, lost to the Dutch, 3-0. It was fine for them to lose, but not 3-0. Its strange watching Euro 2008 without the 3 lions. England should've been there. They should've been there if they tied their last match but they had to lose 3-2, I forgot who they were up against.

I'm just trying to get myself ready for the possibility of working for the Fd again....

Monday, June 02, 2008

I was supposed to post days before but for some strange reason, if I don't see my laptop, I tend to forget to do stuff....

Anyway, the NBA finals is set... Lakers at Celtics for Game 1, its gonna be a classic. That's for this coming Thursday. I can't wait.

Tomorrow is the day my sister and I will get fingerprinted for our Naturalization. I won't be able to see her because we were scheduled at different times. That's okay though. Its just fingerprinting. I asked for time-off but I said I'd be coming back to finish the rest of the day.

I'm not surprised with the move but Jose Mourinho has signed with Internazional of the Serie A League. What's surprising is that he might make a move on some players on my team, Chelsea. Apparently, the owner of Inter has given him $100 million worth of transfer funds to get the players he wanted. He is targeting 4 players from Chelsea: Drogba, Carvalho, Essien and Lampard. He might be able to get 2 of them but I doubt it if Lampard would go and would Essien. But, I've been wrong before....

I saw the first installment of Harold and Kumar during the weekend. I was laughing my butt off. Now I couldn't wait to watch the 2nd installment. Yes, that's right, it was movie days last weekend. I saw Sublime too. I was expecting a horror fest but I was wrong. I didn't know that Bird York, the singer of In the Deep, was Kathleen York, the actress who played Tom Cavanaugh's wife in Sublime and the wife of Tobey Zeigler in the West Wing.

For the second straight week, my Netflix mail is screwing up. I sent my DVD's out last Saturday, but they haven't received it yet. The week before, it happened again.

Anyway, the week shouldn't be that busy and should be uneventful...

The Western Conference Finals is over! First thing's first.... the San Antonio Spurs are a class act. They make no excuses. They man up to the results. They rarely complain. They truly are an organization that everybody should follow. The Lakers beat the Spurs in Game 5 to clinch the West. Masterful performance by Kobe. The rest of the guys' performance were sub-par, but Mamba was able to elevate the team to the win. Now they rest till the Finals start on June 5. Much needed rest for the team.

Yesterday, Team USA went up against the 3 Lions at Wembly stadium. England showed the US how the beautiful game is supposed to be played. Boy were the US players played. JT scored the first goal with a header off a pass from Beckham. I tell ya, Becks still got game. I don't know what Real Madrid was thinking not signing that guy for more years. Well, Real Madrid's loss is MLS' gain I guess. England won the game against the US, 2-0. It was just beautiful. I'll probably give the US a few more years before they reach the caliber of England. Sure, they'll qualify for the World Cup, but they might not last the qualifying round. US got beat by a team that didn't even reach Euro 2008! I'm sure England is kicking themselves for that, but that's a different story.

Anyway, its been a steady pace at work. Calls are coming in but they're not for service though. We need more calls. I'm getting really bored. You can only do so much surfing the internet. I brought a book, but for some strange reason, I just surf the web and trying to find articles related to the quest of Chelsea to find a manager.

Like I said, you could only do so much surfing the web....

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

I wasn't able to go to my brother's little get-together last Saturday. I don't know... I just didn't feel like going. I missed all the Indy goodness. They were doing an Indiana Jones marathon then saw the 4th installment in the theaters. I told him I wouldn't miss the next one, which is when the Dark Knight comes out on July. I wonder what kind of marathon they'll do?

Anyway, I saw UFC 84 over the weekend. BJ Penn's my boy!! He sure knocked the heck out of the Muscle Shark. It was an ok card. The Axe Murderer is back in business. Tito disappointed a lot, considering this was his final bout in the company. All in all, it was ok, it wasn't great.

Over the weekend, I did my own marathon. I was supposed to do the Oceans 11-13 marathon, but decided against it. Instead, I did the National Treasure one, which was good since I haven't seen the 2nd part of that franchise. It was entertaining. I like that fast pace. Movies should all be like that.

Work has been slow. There were some days when the calls were non-stop, but for the most part, it's been slow. Trying to stay awake has been part of the battle plan. As usual, nothing to write home about.

I'll try to update the songs on my little widget here on my blog. So far, there aren't that many good songs out there that really capture my spirit.

I'm watching Game 4 of the Western Finals. Lakers are leading so far, but its been a close game. Lakers lead the series, 2-1. Both teams can't afford to lose, but unfortunately, someone has to.

Tomorrow is a good football game. Its a friendly match between the US and England. They're gonna be playing at Wembly stadium. Too bad there's no HD version of this match. It may be a friendly but I'm expecting the 3 Lions to win by a bunch. The US aren't that good compared to England so I'm not expecting a close game. Too bad, I'm not watching it live.

I'll be calling it a night.... I should be sleeping early... I am soooo losing sleep for no reason....

I miss my old job....

Friday, May 23, 2008

Lakers won Game 2! It wasn't even a fight. The supporting cast did their job. Now the Lakers lead the Spurs, 2-0, and they're heading to San Antonio for the next 2 games. It should be fun.

I have an advanced copy of Alanis Morissette's new album. I'll give you my review by next week, or by the next time I blog.

As expected, the new Indy movie should be #1 when they finish calculating the receipts this week. It made $22 million on Thursday, and you have the rest of the weekend left... Its a no-brainer.

This is gonna be a short blog. I'm feeling sleepy and tired these last couple of days. I think thats strange because I'm just sitting around doing nothing at work.

I'll catch my sleep by Saturday evening. I still need to do my regular Saturday stuff. it should be fun...

Manchester United is this year's Champions League Champions! They beat Chelsea 6-5 in penalty kicks. They were tied in regulation and extra time. The main story lines was Drogba received a red card. Apparently, he slapped Vidic. So Drogba was sent off. But Chelsea should've won if John Terry didn't slip for his penalty kick. If he would've made it, it was over. He missed then Giggs made it for Man U and Anelka's PK was stopped by Van der Sar. I'm now worried about JT. Can he recover from this? You just don't reach the finals of the Champions League every year. Its just impossible. That miss will haunt him until he redeems himself again at the same stage.

I'm still Chelsea all the way. JT will still be my favorite player. I hope he bounces back after this.

If you've seen the game, you probably have seen the last of a few of the Chelsea players. Drogba might be heading to Italy. Lampard might be going to Inter. Carvalho might leave too.

Man U might lose some players too. The best player in the game right, Cristiano Ronaldo, might consider moving to Real Madrid. That would be a coup if Madrid gets him. They're gonna be paying a lot of Euros for him.

Today is Game 1 of the Lakers/Spurs series. I guess I can find consolation with that game. I know the Lakers will win that series.

I should have dinner and feed this migraine I have.... I almost lost it when JT missed the PK....

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

My sister and I got our letter from the USCIS. They told us to show up for fingerprinting for the FBI. It is step 1 to our getting Naturalized. Of course, there are only 2 steps to this. The next being the interview/testing which leads to our being US Citizens, if we pass of course. I know that I'll be passing the fingerprinting process. My fingerprints should already be in the citizen, as far as I know, I also have a PFN. That's what you get or have to go through when getting into the PD. This should be a piece of cake. I am looking forward to joining in the democratic process of voting.

In lighter news, today is Game 1 of the Eastern finals. The Pistons are visiting the Celtics. Right before halftime, the Celtics look in control as they were leading the Pistons, as of this writing. Its well into the 2nd half right now. I'm catching up on House right now. That series doesn't matter to me. Its the series tomorrow that matters, the Western Finals. But that's tomorrow.

Its Memorial day next Monday. Its a holiday but I'll be showing up for work. Its not a paid holiday at my company so I asked if its okay to work that day, and the boss said it was okay. The office will be closed but I'll be there taking the calls and doing my usual stuff. I might bring a dvd or something to pass the time, since I wouldn't be mingling with customers.

Big day tomorrow!! Its the Champions League Final tomorrow at Russia. Chelsea plays Manchester United for the crown. 2 of the best teams in Europe right now are going head to head tomorrow in what experts are saying is going to be a defensive slow game. They're not expecting fireworks. I beg to differ. I think its not gonna be a close game, it won't go into extra time nor penalty kicks. It'll be decided in regulation time. I see Chelsea winning 2-1....

But thats me...

Sunday, May 18, 2008

The NBA's Eastern Finals is set, its going to be Pistons at Celtics. Celtics won today against the Cavs. I was watching the last minute of the game, and boy, the Cavs sure look tired. Lebron forced that shot going to the hoop. Celtics look determined though. They deserve the win. Its going to be a tough series with the Pistons. As for the West Finals, Game 7 of the Spurs and Hornets won't happen till tomorrow. That's a lot of rest for the #2 Hornets. Either way, the Lakers will cream whoever wins that series. Its looking like a blast of the past Finals. Lakers and Celtics.

I thought it would be nice to be watching a comedy during this sorta-kinda hot day, so I decided to watch First Sunday. The movie had its moments of comedy, but in retrospect, what a waste of time. I must've dozed off a couple of times. As far as the comedy, Katt Williams carried the comedy. His one-liners and comedic timing was awesome. He should do more comedies and not just concentrate on what Ice Cube gives him. I mean, not that he takes career advice from Cube anyway.

Nothing on good on TV today, so I'm watching Till the Devil knows your dead. So far, the only thing that interested me is Marisa Tomei showing off her boobs. I'm still watching it though.... We'll see how it goes...

It's supposed to be a little cooler this coming week. Not as hot as this past week. It's still a little warm though, but I do feel a little cool down...

Saturday, May 17, 2008

Just finished watching The Mist. The ending was messed up, but if I was in that situation, I'd probably do the same thing. You found out your wife is dead, what's there to live for?

That was still messed up though....

I finally saw the Howard Stern episode where Artie lost it. Boy, Artie sure had those crazy eyes going. There was nobody that could possibly stop him getting to Teddy. He sure was pissed off at the guy. Artie sure gained a lot of weight though. While he was chasing after Teddy, the camera was making sure to get his butt crack with the shot. Not that they were zooming in on Artie's crack, its just that you could not include it in the shot, but whoever was the camera person, made it a point to include it in the shot. It took 4 guys to stop Artie from charging Teddy. He sure is strong. In Artie's words, thats retard strong...

Anyway, I need to find ways of staying cool and not concentrate on this heat...
Today is day 3 of the heat wave here in the Bay Area. Its not supposed to be as hot as day 1, but still the mercury will be up there in the low and possibly mid 90s.

It was crazy busy yesterday at the office. It became too busy that my office manager stayed with me till quitting time. Its not that I can't handle it, its just that it was too much for just one person. People were asking for property releases as well as vehicle releases, minutes before quitting time. Not to mention the guys out on the field. We're finally picking up, it wasn't like this last week. I guess the heat brings out the crazy people, so they're making these stupid mistakes that lead to their car being impounded.

Anyway, the Lakers clinched the first seat in the Western Finals as they defeated the Utah Jazz, 108-105. It wasn't supposed to be that close. The Lakers were leading all the way in double digits, till the 4th quarter when the Jazz responded with such tenacity, that i was concerned that the Lakers might just lose their marbles and let Game 6 slip away. It was till the last second when the Jazz had a chance to send it to overtime in the last 10 seconds. They made 2 3-point attempts but those fell short or went too strong. Lakers couldn't get a rebound against these guys. Thats another hurdle out of the way. 8 more wins and we got a championship under our belt.

I went to the Egg farm today. i thought it was in the middle of nowhere, but I was wrong. It was in the middle of suburbia! Anyway, I tried them this morning. You could tell it was fresh by the way it was easily cooked, the yolk has a different color... But I'll be honest with you, I didn't taste the freshness though. That's just me I guess...

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Today was day 1 of the heat wave here in the Bay Area. I know what you're thinking... How can consecutive days of low 90s be considered as a heat wave? Simple, Bay Area doesn't have that kind of weather. It got warm in the early part of the afternoon and there's tomorrow to look forward to, as it will be the hottest day of the heat wave. This is the reason why I miss the weather back in Salinas. That is THE only thing I miss there. Its probably a good 10 degrees cooler there.

Anyway, today is game 5 for the #1 seeds in both Conferences in the NBA playoffs. Utah and Cleveland were looking for upsets but they're going up against the odds. The home team in the 2nd round has won every game except for one. I forget who it was that won on the road. Utah might have it better because Kobe is still nursing that bad back of his. Right now, the Celtics aren't disappointing the stats. They're up against the Cavs.

Today was a steady day at work. It was constant and it wasn't all bunched in together, like back-to-back PD calls. It gave us time to think and re-assess what was supposed to do.

Oh yeah, I applied to this position in the City as some Financial investigator. They got my application and will be forwarded to the hiring manager. Hopefully, some good will turn out on that. But I'm not counting on it.

I really like Hell's Kitchen. Gordon Ramsey is THE MAN!

I'm trying to upload pictures to my blog. Apparently Blogger has this widget that you can make a slideshow added to this blog. I uploaded my pictures but for the life of me, I couldn't get it to work. I searched forums to see what I was doing wrong. But, lo and behold, it wasn't just me. There's an internal problem with the blog and the site that hosts my pictures.

Thank God it wasn't user error.... I know I'm smart, but this really stumped me... Now I gotta look for some other form of widget to attach to this blog to get the ball rolling on a slideshow....

Yeah, that's right... I got a lot of free time on my hands....

Just a quick one...

Breaking news in the home front....

The San Jose Sharks fired their head coach, Ron Wilson....

No surprise here....
Someone was really pissed off at us at work. It was either a person who's car got towed or it was one of us. We received a package today and there was cow poop in it. Can you believe that? Someone went online and ordered cow poop to be delivered to our office. We checked the website and whoever the person was, paid $20 to send cow poop to us. That is so idiotic. No one in their right mind would do something like that. It wasn't even funny. The poop was nicely packaged too, so two thumbs up for presentation.

The summer days are finally here. Today was a breezy day and tomorrow is the start of the summer days. Temperatures would reach the low 90s. You know, I may be griping but at least I don't live in the Valley. My goodness, the heat there reaches the 100s and it still isn't summer yet! I really don't like sweating.

I should complain to Comcast about the signal that they're putting out. The HD channels are getting bad with all the pixelization during the show. So even on the DVR, you wouldn't be able to watch the show. Too much pixels, it distorts the picture.

Anyway, on my way home from work, I thought I saw a man struggle to reach the bus stop and collapsed at the corner of 10th and Taylor, IFO of the gas station. I wasn't sure of it did happen, but I wasn't gonna call 911 for it. I'm sure someone already did. I'll call my friend and check if someone did call. Anyway, I didn't get a good description of the male as the car was moving.

Not a busy day in the office today. Towards the end of my shift, I received a call from CHP saying there was a delivery truck that turned over, was on its roof and needs a tow. They were asking for a medium rig. I sent for #10, and an additional truck. You never know what's up with that accident. But from the CHP log, the driver was able to get out, not sure if he was injured or not, but for something like that where the truck turned over, you'd be sending an ambulance. I believe CHP had it as an 11-81/ traffic accident w/ minor injuries.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll be hearing about it tomorrow... I'll probably call it an early night today....

I was in the process of transferring my blog to a different website, but I changed mind. This place has been so much better. I love my widgets. It looks so much better here. I'm sticking to Blogger.

I saw Ironman. I got tell you, I was impressed. Never a dull moment. It is definitely a must-see movie. They're already talking about a sequel. I, like so many others, have missed the last part of the movie, you know, after the credits. That's when Samuel Jackson made a surprise appearance as head of S.H.I.E.L.D. and invites Ironman to a real mission. I'm not sure if its in Youtube already. I doubt it though.

Today was the last day of the Premier League. My team, Chelsea, played to a draw. They were leading 1-0 with just seconds left in injury time until Bolton scored a goal and tied the game. Chelsea needed a win and a Manchester United loss or tie. It didn't really matter though because Manchester United won against Wigan, 2-0. A Chelsea win, although sweet, was just a consolation because they're still down in goal difference. Back to back championship for Man U, way to go there lads. The sad thing is that the captain, John Terry, dislocated his left arm very early in the game. He's probable for the championship game of the Champions League. That is one great way to get even with Manchester United. I don't want Fergie to win that double.

I was watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I don't know, I wasn't impressed. There were some funny moments but overall, unimpressive. Its safe to say that the funny moments were the ones showed during the previews. So, basically, you've seen the funny parts already if you've seen the previews. The potential of the movie is there, but somehow it feels untapped. Great shots of Hawaii though.

I'll check to see if I could anymore widgets to my blog...

Just had my car detailed today. It looks like it just came out of the dealership. Its clean and everything. I haven't had my car detailed... ever! Out of all the cars I've had, this was the only time I've had it done. I was just supposed to come in and have the car waxed and washed. After it was washed, the manager came to me and showed me in-grained dirt that was imbedded in the paint of the car. They have a procedure that would take that dirt and chemicals out. I had it sampled to the hood of the car to see the difference. My car was supposed to be smooth, but it had this courseness to it that troubled me. When he sampled it, it took out the courseness. I just had to get that service to preserve the car. If not, the paint would start to oxidize. We don't want that. Now, the car is looking great, better than ever.

I've noticed that the City paid the last of my accrued vacation and sick time. Noticed it come in thru direct deposit. That was very timely because I needed a little bit of help there. I guess now I'm not expecting any other money coming in, aside from the stimulus package that our President promised us.

Well, since most of my day was spent waiting for my car getting detailed, I'm thinking of postponing my project of re-designing this blog of mine. It all depends on how the day goes, I guess. No worries though. The particular blog I was interested of making was pretty complex. I might lose this current one if I don't make an alternate one.

Note to self.... Don't forget to backup your blog....

Friday, May 09, 2008

Well, what do you know? The streak is over. My streak of blogging ended yesterday. It totally slipped my mind. I knew yesterday that I was supposed to do something, but I guess I was preoccupied with something.

Today was one of the slowest days ever. We only had 2 calls for service... for the whole day! That's slow! Well, of course, I had other calls but they were just for inquiries on how much these great law-abiding citizens owe us in fees. But aside from that, its been slooooooooow.....

Well, the Lakers look like they'll drop Game 3 to the Jazz. They were just off the whole game. Nothing was working. The cylinders were not in sync. Wait.... okay, its official now. The stadium is dropping all this confetti all over the place! Looks like the Jazz won the championship. That's a little overkill if you ask me. They won't get over the Lakers. Jazz are good, but they're not that good.

I'm waiting for Sunday. That's the last day of the English Premiership. Unfortunately, Man U V Wigan is on at the same time Chelsea plays. That means, when the game ends, you'll know who wins. For Chelsea to win, Manchester United need to tie or lose the game against one of the hottest teams right now, Wigan. Chelsea just needs to win, no other result is acceptable.

Anyway, I've got plans of changing the look of my blog. Hopefully it works, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We'll see how it works... That's my project for the weekend....

My friend did it again. I don't know how he did it, but he was able to pull it off. My daft wanker of a friend was able to get in to an advanced screening of Speed Racer. I guess those are the perks if you live close to Hollywood right? He was nice enough not to give me any spoilers though. The way he described the movie to me was that it was like when the Matrix first came out. it was more of the getting bedazzled by the effects rather than the story kinda movie. he did mention that the movie wasn't for everybody. But it was loads of fun! Well, not for nothing, I don't think I'll be watching it then. But thats me...

One of my co-workers today asked me if I believed in ghosts. "Of course", I said. He said he had a moment in the shop that was quite bizarre. It happened early Saturday morning, around 4am. He was sleeping on the sofa, when the sofa started to rumble, like there was an earthquake. He just brushed it off. After a few minutes, his sleep was disturbed by something that resembled a man who was yelling at him while dancing AT THE FOOT OF THE SOFA!. I said thats a load of crap. He said it didn't end there. He thought it was one of the neighbors doing a prank on him. So, quickly, he dismissed it. But what got his attention was that some "thing" pulled his leg! He lost sleep after that.

I thought that was a cool thing. We have a ghost in the shop! It was probably the spirit of the fatality we had a week ago. The same driver who experienced those ghostly quirks, pulled the car of that fatality. The truck fell of a cliff after flying about 100 feet then landing on a parking lot. Surprisingly, he was the only one that died that day. He died of a heart attack. Could it be that the spirit stayed with the vehicle and for some strange reason, accompanied the truck to the shop? It is quite possible, highly unlikely, but very possible.

I'll try and notice any eerie happenings around the shop now.... I don't know if my driver was having one of his delusional moments, although he doesn't have any history of delusions... I might see this spirit one of these days... who knows...

Another uneventful day at the office. Nothing worth writing in here...

I was supposed to get some Bluetooth Headphones today. Then I thought about how I'll be using it. I just have my Mac as a Bluetooth device and my Iphone. Thats a no-brainer. I obviously won't be getting that. I should just get one that can be adaptable to anything though. Its a tough choice. Well, actually, I have no choices to go through. I'll probably just head on to Fry's and look at my options there.

For the last few days I haven't been reading my books. I finally started today with my Patterson books. I really like his style of writing. Suspenseful in so few pages and lots of chapters.

Like I said, it hasn't been that good of a day. Oh yeah, today would've been Game 7 of the Sharks series. Instead, we're reading about the possible dismissal of the coach and a few players. A good season would turn sour by an early elimination and the possible firing of the coach and possible trade of players. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Whoever did that Gatorade campaign using pictures in B/W and a little motion, with strategical colored sections of the photo, was pure genius. That was some editing that person did. Great choice for music. That's what I would've used too.

Today is still birthday week at the office. 3 people having birthdays this week. The owners like celebrating birthdays so instead of having 3 celebrations, we're going to have 1 big one. Don't know when that'll be, but I'm thinking it'll involve some BBQ!!! Now that's what I'm talking about....

I was just reading my past blogs and I just realized one thing....

I gave up on myself.

Instead of being the guy, I was trying to be the dude the guy counts on.

After several weeks, I just realized this.

Never did give myself a fighting chance. I gave up. Just like that.

Got a call that started my downward spiral and never recovered. In the past, I would recover, just like that. But instead of fighting and persevering, I gave up. I lost faith in me.

Its hard to admit it, but its true. Now I have to redeem myself and get back in the high life.

I can't believe I gave up on myself. That is so not me. I just need to get this out of my system.

This is mea culpa. I guarantee you it WON'T happen again...
Chelsea won its game today against Newcastle, 2-0. That means it all boils down to the final match of the year. For Chelsea to win the Premiership, Manchester United needs to lose their game against Wigan. Sounds like an easy thing to do since Man U is probably the best team right now in all of Europe. Wigan is having a blast though. They haven't lost in 6 weeks. They have a chance to defeat the mighty Man U. If Man U wins, thats it, they're back-to-back champs. It doesn't matter if Chelsea wins or loses. Go Wigan!!!

It has been a slow day today except for the last 40 minutes of the day. It felt like everybody was just waiting for the last minute before calling for a tow. I think thats crazy. There's all this free time during the day and yet they wait till the last minute to call us for service. And these aren't PD calls too. Anyway, I like this though. All that stress, but its still not comparable to my last job though. I'm still waiting for something like that.

Anyway, as expected, the Sharks lost Game 6 last night. It was the longest game in franchise history. It ended in the 4th Overtime. Sharks had so many chances to finish the game but they were too tired to seal the deal. You may be wondering why I knew too much about the game yesterday. That's right, I watched the game yesterday. I promised not to, but I still did. I guess that means that I do have a dark cloud when it comes to viewing Sharks games. Its probably just coincidence though.

I'm feeling so tired right now... which I think is strange because I wasn't doing any heavy lifting or mental exercises.... Its probably the travel... I, so, wanna get back to working for the city...

Good sports day today. Milan won the derby against rival Inter, 2-1. Kaka was incredibly upbeat today. He was everwhere in the pitch. Dazzling performance.

Now news from Chelsea's camp: Roman Abramovich wants to spend 80 million pounds for Lionel Messi, who's a phenomenal player at Barcelona. 80 million pounds! That's close to $160 million!! That's just to get the player, that doesn't include the wages. $160 million to pay the team to get the player. This practice of getting players is new to me. I've just been following the Beautiful Game for a few years now, and this way of getting the players is unbelievable. Compared to the NY Yankees, who has the biggest payroll in MLB, Chelsea practices the same philosophy: Let your millionaire owner pay for the best players and get them to the team. Anyway, I'm not focusing here... I hope Chelsea does get Messi but they need to unload a few players for Messi to truly shine. And from what I've heard, they're also planning to get Kaka and Benzema. I know Abramovich has a lot of money but the team needs to get rid of a few more players. But that's me...

At any rate, Chelsea is going up against Newcastle tomorrow. They need to win because Manchester United just won so a Chelsea loss would mean that, mathematically, Manchester United wins the Premiership back to back. I won't hear the end of it from my friend in Maryland.

Sports day Sunday also includes Game 6 of the Sharks and Stars series. They're at Dallas today and odds are against the Sharks. Once again, their backs are against the proverbial wall. I, being the superstitious git, won't be watching the game.

Its also Game 7 of the Celtics and Hawks today. Wouldn't it be great for the Hawks to win? Not a Hawks fan, but that would be extremely crazy! Just like last year when the Warriors defeated the Mavs, the Hawks have that chance to knock off the #1 seed Celtics. This series I thought should've been a sweep from the Celtics. But the Hawks showed up to play....

Busy day for sports fans.....

Today was travel day. Lots of going back and forth. I hate those kind of days. I hate that, I like to have a blueprint of what I'm going to be doing for the day. I like to be in control of the day, or at least of what I'm going to be doing.

I was wrong about the Sharks yesterday. They won! Can you believe that? They forced a game 6 at Dallas. I believe the game is tomorrow. The game, surprisingly, wasn't televised yesterday, not even on any local channel. I had to get my info on the internet. Had to wait for the game to be finished to find out that the Sharks won. Now I'm just hoping that the game would be televised, but that shouldn't matter to me because I won't be watching the game anyway. The 3 games they lost, I was watching the game. The 2 games they won, I wasn't. So i guess I won't be watching the remainder of the series. That's just me, I'm crazy superstitious.

I'm watching 21 right now. Its that movie based on Bringing down the house. I read the book, and halfway thru the movie, I really thought the book was so much better than the movie. I got confused with the characters, plus, the first 20 minutes of the movie was a drag, I almost fell asleep.

My back still aches. Its not so much my back, but my tailbone. I'm been drinking my meds but they're not working. I don't know what to do. I'll just keep on rubbing ointment on it and drinking my pain killers. Crossing my fingers that that'll work...

Friday, May 02, 2008

Today was a testy day. Just 3 of us working, it wasn't that busy but whenever I'm left by myself in the office, someone wants to take their car out. And of course that happened today, twice. So I had to call one of the drivers that was off today. It was nice of our neighbor to help me answer the calls while I release a car today. Anyway, I survived. Bring on the pain!

Looks like the Sharks will be eliminated today from the playoffs. They were down in the 3rd period, 2-1. A promising season indeed but I guess, we're missing a few pieces. I'll be honest with you, I can't really pinpoint what the problem is though. Goalie is solid, but the other positions... I don't know....

I was supposed to get a haircut today, but there were too many people waiting so I decided to have it tomorrow. That screwed up all my plans.

Tomorrow will be a long day for me. A lot planned so we'll see how that happens. Especially that thing I was writing about from last week. I don't think that'll happen.

Yeah... I really don't think it'll happen.... so its better not to talk about it...

Thursday, May 01, 2008

The big bosses went to Texas to attend a wedding, so it was just the drivers and I manning the fort. It was an easy day then we got bombarded by PD calls the last 15 minutes before quitting time. It was unreal, but manageable. Nothing I couldn't handle.

This is what makes me miss being with the PD. I miss the stress, the craziness of it all. I know this sounds crazy in itself but I guess I wasn't ready for it then.

In one of the most incredulous news stories I've heard: there's this guy from Texas who tried to cash in a check worth $320 billion!! Can you believe that? His reason: his daughter's grandmother issued the check to him to start up a record label!! How stupid can someone be?

These are the kinds of calls I miss when I was with the PD... And I'll continue to miss them... but see, I'm torn between keeping my sanity and succeeding in the dream job that I want.

On a side note, the Sharks won Game 4 yesterday. Extending the series to San Jose. I'm not sure if it was a fluke or not, but I didn't watch the game. I feel like I have a black cloud when I watch the Sharkies. So, I'm not gonna watch the series anymore, in an attempt to rally my beloved Sharks to accomplish the impossible...

Where's that dang rebate check????

CHELSEA WON!!!! WE'RE GOING TO MOSCOW!!!

The 2nd leg of the match between Chelsea and Liverpool turned out to be a classic. The game went down the wire. The game was tied 1-1 at regulation. Chelsea scored 2 goals in extra time, one of them was a penalty kick by me mate, Lamps. Kudos to the guy, its tough being in that spotlight at that stage of the game, especially what he's been through. I mean, Christiano Ronaldo choked on his, so you can imagine the pressure. Anyway, Chelsea was leading 3-1 going into the final 15 minutes of extra time, Babel scored for Liverpool, which made it 3-2. If Liverpool scored again, they would go to Moscow, if Chelsea held on, they would win by aggregate score. I still couldn't get the away goal difference. They should just abolish that stupid rule. Anyway, Chelsea held Liverpool off and we're on our way to Moscow!!!

What I didn't get was Liverpool manager, Rafa Benitez taking out their best striker, Fernando Torres, out of the game and put in Babel with almost 20 minutes remaining in the game. Let me put this in context for y'all. Lakers are down 5 points, so Phil Jackson benches Kobe Bryant for the remainder of the game and puts in some marginal player!! Thats how crazy the sub was! Ok, Babel made a goal, but still... Anyway...

So the Champions League Final is set. Its going to be Chelsea against Manchester United. Too bad its not happening at the Bridge. They'd win for sure. Anyway, its set on May 21. I will set my calendar and my DVR to that.

I recorded the Chelsea/Liverpool match on DVR. I was so pissed off that it didn't record the whole match. It was just set till regulation time plus an extra 30 minutes. I was able to see Lamps and Drogba's goal though. That's a little consolation for me. But as extra precaution for the final, I'll add an extra hour to it. I want to see Chelsea hoist that trophy on the 21st. I'm so excited I'm tempted to check the airfare to go to Moscow.

On a different subject, the Sharks are playing the Stars again tonight. Its game 4. Its all tied at 1 a piece in the 2nd period. I don't know. I have a strange feeling that the series would end tonight. I feel like I've lost all confidence with the team. They're playing great though, but I might change the channel instead of watching it.

That doesn't diminish the way I feel about the day though. Bang up job by Chelsea. Can't wait for the match...
Just something to think about today...

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back. Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin....

Forgot who told me this, but its nice food for thought...

I couldn't believe it... Sharks lost Game 3 against the Stars, 2-1 in overtime. Now the Sharks face the improbable task of winning 4 games in a row. The last team I remember who did that was the Boston Red Sox against my beloved Yankees. Sox eventually won the World Series that year. They broke the curse of the Bambino. Is there a curse against the Sharks that I don't know of? Hmmm....

Manchester United won 1-0 against Barcelona in a boring semi-final match. Scholes hit the game-winner, 25 minutes into the 1st half. What a goal it was though. I'm surprised Barcelona didn't play Henry or Bojan early and attack early. Anyway, tomorrow is the big day for me lads at Chelsea as they face Liverpool in the 2nd leg of their semi-final round. Lamps will be playing tomorrow. And as far as I know, there will be no scratches or injuries to the Blues. I know Liverpool, they will attack, and attack early. They'll go for broke early. Chelsea, historically, has never lost at home. Last time they did that was 2 years ago. Historically, Liverpool plays terribly away, especially at the Bridge. Again, I'll be monitoring the game over the internet. I love ESPN's gamecast!

I was supposed to buy GTA 4 today but due to uncontrollable instances, I wasn't able to. I'll go on my lunch time tomorrow and get the game. I'll do that after I eat and enjoy the Champions League match. There were early reports of glitches to the game in both consoles. For PS3s, the glitches only affects the 60GB consoles. The glitch is towards the beginning of the game. Its not even into the first part of the game, it was just the video leading to the game. That must suck for the people that stayed in line to get the game for hours and the game crashing on them.

I'm still on the fence though about GTA 4. I know its a great game, but I wonder if I'll be playing it. I have a bad history of buying games and not playing them. I don't know, too much stuff to do. At any rate, I'll probably use my GC tomorrow.

If Chelsea wins, I'm using it... if they lose, I'm cooking dinner... Either way, I win... I guess...

Monday, April 28, 2008

Tomorrow is the start of the 2nd leg of the Semifinal round of the UEFA Champions League. Barcelona goes to Manchester United tomorrow while Liverpool visits my mates at Chelsea on Wednesday. Fergie is again playing mind games with Barcelona by saying that Rooney and Vidic might not be playing because of injuries. Next thing you know, they're starting and running like heck! Wednesday's game should be finally different for Chelsea. Last year, they were facing Liverpool too but the 2nd leg was at Anfield and Liverpool plays great at home. Chelsea lost last year via penalty kicks. This year the 2nd leg is at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea hasn't lost in 2 years. I may be wrong, but the last time Chelsea lost at Stamford Bridge was against Barcelona at the Champions league too. Lamps might not play due to his Mom's passing last Thursday. Oddly enough, he was practicing with the lads since Sunday. That's a trooper for you. Hope he plays, but I understand if he doesn't.

I'm happy that my favorite show, House, is coming back today. I'm not going to watch it till tomorrow. Although, I am tempted to do so.

I'm catching up on my shows on DVR. I just started watching this show, How I met your mother. I'm impressed. It sure is funny.

GTA 4 is coming out tomorrow. There'll be some stores that will be doing midnight launches later. I wouldn't be doing that, you know. Standing in line, waiting for a game to come out. Sure, I did that when the last book of Harry Potter came out, and that was crazy. GTA 4 would bring out the craziness of everybody, considering the amount of violence involved in the game. I'm still on the fence on whether I get the game or not. I might, but I'd rather get MGS 4. I don't know, I'll be spending lunch at Best Buy tomorrow and see whether I get it or not. I got coupons anyway, so I'm not going to be spending that much.

I have a headache right now, actually since the early afternoon. I drank a couple of Motrin pills, so we'll see how that goes.

Looks like Lakers will go thru to the Western Semifinals. Denver sure isn't playing like Denver. But, they're complaining is still consistent. They will face either the Rockets or the Jazz. Whoever it is, they'll be toast.

It might be my glasses thats making my headache... we'll see... I can't wait till the weekend... if you've been following my blog, you know what I mean. If I were a betting man, I'd be betting against me. But you know, thats just me talking...

Sunday, April 27, 2008

There's still 6 minutes left in the 3rd period, but I'm gonna call it... Stars lead the series 2-0. The Sharks are playing better compared to Game 1, but the Stars have a certain feel to their game.

It feels like they're heading to the Stanley Cup kinda feeling. I hope I'm wrong.

The thing I dread is a sweep because the next 2 games are at Dallas.

I guess this is my cue to sleep and rest early, you know, get ready for tomorrow...
My PS3 started acting up yesterday. I was playing that wrestling game, enjoying the evening and closed my PS3. When I opened my PS3 to watch a movie, it didn't recognize this DVD of mine. I tried to play a game, but it wasn't recognizing the disc. That got me concerned. Any disc I tried did not work.

I immediately went online to see if there were any quick fix to the problem I'm having. I never realized that there were a lot of PS3 owners that were having the same problems. Most of them contacted Sony and shipped their system to them for weeks of having it serviced. Some of them tried reformatting the PS3. It worked to some but didn't for most. So I reformatted my PS3 (despite not backing up my game data), but it still didn't work. There goes my saved games.

Then I remembered this trick my brother did to our old PS2 system. Once our discs then weren't playing, we turned the system upside down and the discs started playing. I tried it on my PS3, thinking that doing something this inane would work with such a technologically advanced gaming console... but

IT WORKED!!!

I tried playing a CD first and it played, while the PS3 was upside down. So I turned it back right side up, hoping that it won't stop not working. But it still played the CD. I put in a regular DVD and it still played. I need to put a game in and check if it still recognized the disc.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT WORKED!!!

Has to be something with the sensors of the PS3, as far as the disc loading sensors. It just wasn't recognizing any disc that was loaded. But now its working. Instead of waiting for Sony to send me a box to send my system to them for fixing, I can enjoy my PS3.

Simple fixes are cool...
Such a short a post I did yesterday, but well worth it. I love my Iphone! I can do all these things I wasn't able to do before. Plus, I was more on the road, than on my laptop.

Having lunch with the rest of the brood is good. Its nice to catch up with them on things. I met my sister's fiance. He seems nice. My sister kept telling me to go and talk to him. But, I'm not a fan of small talk. We conversed about a few things but nothing to write home about.

Lunch was great, although the grill of the restaurant we went to might've used some cleaning. Not really sure, but I believe that's how it was supposed to taste but my mates were saying otherwise. I love grilled food. It just want that grilled taste.

Today is movie day. I just saw Lions for Lambs. it wasn't that good. It was short which is great. It just means that I'd be watching more movies than if it were a bit longer. I need to catch up with the movies I have. I'm really falling behind.

The Sharks are supposed to be playing Game 2 later on. Hope the outcome is better than the first game a couple of days ago. What a disappointing outcome that was. I hope the Sharks' enthusiasm is up there. Felt like they were holding back. On paper, the Shark are the best team in the playoffs. But they don't play on paper now, do they? Game is on at 6pm. Hopefully, I'll blog about the result, considering its gonna finish an hour early.

I'm currently watching Death at a funeral. I don't know, I'm growing tired of it already, and its just a few minutes in. I might change it to Feast of love or P2. Something new, definitely.

I feel weak, don't know why.... I hate to admit it, but I like the smell of that Icy-Hot balm I'm using. Call me crazy...

Saturday, April 26, 2008

Chelsea won!!! Chelsea won the early derby against Manchester United, 2 - 1. Ballack scored both goals, the last being a PK. Its all tied now on top of the Premiership! Chelsea won!!!

Friday, April 25, 2008

My supervisor went to a conference today. I believe it was the CTTA conference. Anyway, I was left by myself. Handled everything by myself. The owner gave me props for handling the day with ease. No problems and all that. I said to myself, this job is a piece of cake, are you kidding me? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to do this job. I mean, modesty aside, its a cakewalk. You just don't need any driver to show you up! If they do, you bite back! That's what I did. The boss saw me handle it with ease. Dust off your shoulder, dude, they respect you.

I tried this Chinese restaurant during lunch period. I thought it was going to be like Mr. Chau's, flavor-wise. The dishes were too flavorful. If it was sweet and sour, it was more sweet than a good blend. I'm not going there anymore. I'll probably stick to the usual joints. Or probably just have a packed lunch like when I was the PD. That would save me some money.

Today is Game 1 between the Sharks and Stars. As of this writing, Stars are leading 2-1. It could change with just a flick of the wrist. Anyway, its 5 minutes into the last period, and it looks like the Sharks will lose this one. I don't know, it feels like there's something missing with the Sharks, like they lost their fire, the zeal, the killer instinct. Its like they're going thru the motions. Its not that they're not trying, its just that they could do better. Don't get me wrong, the Stars are good, but not as good as the Sharks.

Tomorrow is what I'm waiting for though. Its the big derby between Chelsea and Manchester United. They're playing at 12:45pm their time, so that means its at an ungodly hour of 4:45 am here. Which means that I have to wake up that early to listen to the game. Yes, that's right, LISTEN. The great people at FSC decided NOT to televise that game. Its probably on Setanta sports. But Comcast don't have that channel, I think its only available on satellite. I miss satellite. Anyway, Lamps won't be playing. Mum passed away last Thursday. My condolences, Lamps, to you and yours. They get Essien back which is cool. They should attack, attack, attack! I'm sure they'll play their possession game again, knowing their coach, that's what they'll do. If you ask me, that's not attractive football. That's the difference between Chelsea and a Barcelona or Real Madrid. They don't attack, they just like to control the ball. Which is good, but you can't score a goal by just kicking the ball around the pitch.

Anyway, so plans for tomorrow are: Wake up early, get ready to do laundry, grab breakfast (bagel and frappuccino), and listen to the game till the local laundry place opens at 7am. Its going to be one of those kind of days again.

Plus, I'll be waiting for a call from a friend of mine who I invited to watch a movie with. I don't know, I have a funny feeling about the whole thing. Let's just say that I'm not holding my breath about it.

I should stop being pessimistic about these sort of things. But hey, what are you gonna do, right?

Thursday, April 24, 2008

There's never a day in the office that I deal with some pissed off person who thought that the fees we charge for storage and towing away their car is criminal. My logic is, if you've got the balls to drive without a license or with expired tags or drive while intoxicated or abandon your car for more than 72 hours, you should have the balls to pay-up for the stupidity you just did. We'd be out of business if everybody followed the law, well, aside from car accidents, of course. And to think, we're not doing any private property tows! That's where you get the most pissed off people.

It's been a small day today. Quiet too. The politics at work is different from where I used to work. The way I see it, there's the drivers and there's admin/owners. I'm with the latter. The drivers think different of how the owner's run the business. I just do my job. I got to hand it to the owners though, they are so patient with everybody. You would rarely hear a peep from them. Of course, they talk amongst themselves once in a while, but whenever I'm there, they just talk like I'm part of their family. I just mind my own business. Do the job, go home happy.

I need to finish this naturalization app that my sister gave me last week. I should stop procrastinating and just do it.

My thumb still hurts. I don't know how I sprained it, but it sure hurts like crazy especially in the morning.

Before i forget, I need to text my friend a happy weekend. I miss 3 day weekends...

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

I found earlier today that it was Administrative Professionals day. My boss gave me a plant and a card. I thought that was sweet. Typical of a small family owned business. Their way of taking care of the employees. They asked me if I opened the card, I said I save that for later, which they quickly said to go check it. So I did and there was a nice gift card inside. I was pleasantly surprised. Its a good company. Could be better, but they'll be better thru experience. Of course, I had to deal with some insider jealousy, but screw them.

Today was the 1st leg of the other semifinal match in Champions League. It was Manchester United at Barcelona. I couldn't believe that the Nou camp was that big of a stadium. Almost 100,000 people. That's unreal. At Stamford Bridge, it was close to 18,000. Anyway, early in the game, Christiano Ronaldo received a PK for a handball done by Milito. Whenever he does the PK, he does a fake first, then hits the ball. This time, he did away with the fake and I think that screwed up his concentration. He missed it, which I thought deflated the confidence level of Man U. And that was during the first 3 minutes of the game! The game ended with a 0 - 0 draw, and head back to the Stadium of Dreams, Old Trafford on Wednesday. Whoever it'll be, they'll face a very confident Chelsea side (Yes, I'm calling it! I'm saying that Chelsea will win it all against Liverpool, come Tuesday).

I was re-connecting with friends yesterday. Got to talk to a buddy of mine from the academy. She's still sweet and thoughtful as ever. Well, I asked her if she wanted to go watch a movie with me this weekend. We'll see how that will turn out.

Sharks won Game 7 yesterday! It was a tough game but it'll be a tougher series next round. They face the Dallas Stars on Friday. Now that's going to be a tough match-up. Former champs, with a very strong line-up. Sharks should match-up well with them, but I don't know. We had a tough time with the Flames, and they're not as tough as the Stars. It sure will be a test. At least the series start here in San Jose.

I need to sleep early. For the last few days, I'm taking for granted the rest my body needs. Sure, I don't feel tired in the morning, but my body is telling me that I need to rest. If there's one tip that I learned thru the years its that do whatever your body tells you to do. If you feel thirsty, drink. If you feel hungry, eat. My body tells me to rest, so I'll follow.

I need to remind myself to water the plant before I leave for work tomorrow...

Today was the first leg of Chelsea's semifinal round against Liverpool. I was following the game on ESPN's gamecast. I was on pins and needles because of Chelsea's history on these high profile games. Sure enough, most of the players were just going thru the motions and Liverpool scored first due to sloppy defense in the first half. Second half was more technical and tight. It was heading to the last 10 minutes of the game, so I decided to go to lunch and listen to it on my satellite radio. Thank God for Sirius! Funny thing happened, I was in the drive-thru while listening, and of course, the drive-thru had this metal roof on it, blocking the signal. As I exited the metal roof, I heard the announcers go crazy as Riise scored an own goal against Liverpool!! Instead of kicking it out, Riise decided to do a header and ricocheted the ball thru Reina, with seconds left in injury time. If Riise kicked it out, the ref would've whistled the game over. I was screaming and raising my hands in victory!! Yes!!! I'm sure the other drivers in the drive-thru thought I've gone mad, but I didn't care. We had an away goal, heading back to Stamford Bridge, where we never lost in 2 YEARS. What a game. Thank God for DVR too. I saw the game and was ecstatic. I had to replay that goal by Riise a couple of times. I still couldn't believe it.

Anyway, next up is Manchester United on Saturday. A must-win if we want a shot at the Premiership. A win means a tie on top with Man U. A loss and Manchester United wins the Premiership. Its an early game and its not televised on FSC but will be aired on Sirius. So I might stay in my car and chill at a Starbucks while eating some bagel, listening to the game. I have to do my laundry anyway. Plus, its gonna be a long day, Saturday, as I meet with my brother and sister.

Work was easy as ever. I'm definitely getting the hang of it. They can leave me by myself and I could hack it. I need another job though. I need the extra income. I'm keeping my options open. There was an opening in the City yesterday and I sent in my application. Don't know if I would be qualified for it, but what the hey, right? Might as well put my name in the hat and be turned down in the process.

I am watching Game 7 of the series between the Sharks and Flames. Its in the middle of the second period and the Roenick just scored. Sharks are leading 3-2. We'll see how this goes. I didn't know this till a couple of weeks ago, but the Sharks are considered the best team right now that hasn't won a Stanley Cup. I don't like that distinction.

Anyway, I kept my promise of posting everyday. I'l keep it till something strange happens that would keep me from updating the blog.

Cya tomorrow
